Applique Away on Galveston Bay
This is a great design for learning all about appliqué. The background should be pieced before the workshop. The doily shapes are then fused in place. The sheer fabric for the shadow is raw edge stitched. Then the stems, scalloped leaves, and bowl are hand appliqued. The geranium blossoms go on the quilt after the quilting is completed. We will prepare them in the workshop so they are cup shaped and ready to attach. Bonus: We will make a pin with either geranium, apple, hydrangea, or violet blossoms to learn the Terial Magic 3D flower technique. The original quilts have a great example of the quilting of wonky feathers to hide imperfections so we will discuss perfect and imperfect feather quiting. Order your pattern or kit ahead and stitch the background prior to the workshop.
Kits available in blue or red. If you want to choose your own fabrics, you may purchase the laser-cut doily shapes or provide your own. Laser-cut flower shapes are also available.
The kit includes the pattern, laser cut flower and doily shapes, and fabrics for the top and binding. $66
